Today brings Elden Ring Items 1.09 update. The big deal may be the new ray tracing option that changes the game's lighting to become more realistic on current-gen consoles and PCs using the hardware to operate it. Tarnished seems more looking forward to the massive balance pass that update 1.09 gives both Elden Ring's PvP, including nerfs with any of the more annoying meta builds.

Chief included in this was a strategy that had opponents wield twinned weapons with a long reach and continually spam jump attacks. That strategy continues to be significantly curtailed with nerfs towards the damage bonuses supplied by White Mask and Raptor's Black Feathers armor, and also the range of "some attacks" being shorted on Thrusting Swords, Spears, Great Spears, and Halberds.

"Finally an enormous nerf to jump attack spammers and White Mask users," wrote one Tarnished around the Elden Ring subreddit. "SO tired of seeing White Mask and Raptor's Black Feather." That sentiment was shared by quite several users pleased to see White Mask and Black Feathers hit with nerfs.

Intelligence builds are also struck with nerfs to Terra Magica and Founding Rain of Stars, the industry strategy that may completely stymie certain short-range builds.

Other fun balance changes that Tarnished should truly take note of may be the increased attribute scaling for Colossal Swords, Great Axe, Hammers, Flails, Great Hammers, and Colossal Weapons. Speed, range, and recovery time are also improved for the Great Hammer, Great Axe, Great Sword, and Curbed Great Sword classes. Flails, Straight Swords, Katanas, Curved Swords, and Whips have experienced their attack speed increase, and guard counters happen to be sped up on nearly every weapon class hanging around.

There will also be a few adjustments with Ash of Wars in addition to loads of bug fixes. For the full patch notes, check out Bandai Namco’s site.
