What is the best way to develop children? What are they interested in?

When children come into the family, we think about how best to develop them, what to buy them? What games will interest them? I'm all for buying something useful, not spending money on something that just lies around. Well, it's interesting to know everyone's opinion. I thought everyone had a different opinion. And I don't want to spend money on unnecessary things. They are interesting for a couple of seconds.
