Learning from Las Vegas is a book that discusses the relationship between architects and common people to render the idea that architects and constructors should be more sensitive to the values of society because buildings must first of all be adjusted to their needs, rather than for the sake of art or other purposes. The authors argue that the romantic and ancient architecture did not pursue the goal of reaching higher ergonomics of space. Currently, the functions of the constructions have changed and more and more engineers and architects should work on improving the practical and functional dimension of their projects.

Robert Venturi is recognized as an award-winning architect and outstanding teacher, writer, and designer. His has worked on many constructions in London and San Diego, including Sainsbury Wing of the National Gallery and the Museum of Contemporary Art. Vanna Venturi House is also among the most prominent buildings in his portfolio. Together with his colleague, Denise Brown, who is also a writer and architect, they organized an architectural firm Venturi, Scott Brown and Associates. Finally, Steven Izenour was also acknowledged for such projects as Philadelphia’s Basco showroom and Widener Memorial Treehouse. He also designed a house for his parents in Connecticut.

The authors have relied on their own experience in promoting the idea of the new generation of architectural projects that would bring in commercial and functional value to the citizens. Finally, the studies they have introduced provide a fresh insight into the theory and history of architecture and construction, which can also serve as a platform for other promising and talented architects who want to improve the current urban and rural space.
