33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.

"Is it not written in your law..." Who's law was Jesus referring to? The Jewish law (The Old Testament). We find this verse he was referring to precisely quoted in Psalm 82 as follows:

The word ‘gods‘ is Hebrew word H430 אֱלֹהִים 'ĕlôhı̂ym and is defined in the Strongs Concordance as follows:

Plural of H433; gods in the ordinary sense; but specifically used (in the plural thus, especially with the article) of the supreme God; occasionally applied by way of deference to magistrates; and sometimes as a superlative: - angels, X exceeding, God (gods) (-dess, -ly), X (very) great, judges, X mighty.

Why did Jesus say we were angels?

Here's why, because we are [(superhuman) angel, daemon] that got cast down into a Qlippoth host body and must be born of a new Spirit [(divine) God, Christ's spirit, the Holy Spirit] to enter heaven. Here is the proof:

The word ‘Spirit‘ is Greek word G4151 πνεῦμα pneuma and is defined in the Strongs Concordance as follows:

From G4154; a current of air, that is, breath (blast) or a breeze; by analogy or figuratively a spirit, that is, (human) the rational soul, (by implication) vital principle, mental disposition, etc., or (superhuman) an angel, daemon, or (divine) God, Christs spirit, the Holy spirit: - ghost, life, spirit (-ual, -ually), mind. Compare G5590.

Just to reiterate,you are EITHER (superhuman) an angel, daemon, OR (divine) God, Christs spirit, the Holy spirit.

You are either run by the spirit in Ephesians 2:2 OR you have been born again and given the Spirit in John 3:5. (Look at the context of the word spirit in Ephesians 2 versus the word Spirit in John 3).
