The growth in the real estate market in Pernambuco has been pulling the planned furniture sector in Recife.

New stores are being opened in neighborhoods of the capital, Metropolitan Region and also in Caruaru. Traditional ones are also expanding. Among the reasons for this leverage are the growth in household income and the desire to make better use of the space available.

“The market trend today is to increase. The 2012 target is 50%”, guarantees the designer of Officina Design Recife, Luiz Roberto Leitão Junior. The company has six stores distributed in the capital and simultaneously executes several projects, many of them ordered when the buildings are still in the plant. The audience is made up of half women and young newlyweds, equipping the first apartment, and half of those who are moving to bigger places. On average, 70% corresponds to class B and 30% to class C.

Luiz Roberto explains that the risk of buying furniture without professional help is that the pieces do not suit the environment. In addition, architects can predict the size, colors and material in the design, adapting the spaces to the client's taste. In the case of small apartments, with about 50 square meters, the challenge is even greater. “There needs to be circulation spaces,” he points out.

Partner at Marcato and Mew, Denise Gouveia experienced a 20% growth earlier this year compared to 2011. “Even before the carnival, there was already a lot of demand. This period was half dead for the sector and it was surprising”, he says. If the year continues at this pace, Denise reaches her dream: "I hope to grow 30%, I am optimistic". The material comes from industries in São Paulo and Rio Grande do Sul, states with tradition in the treatment of wood and production of accessories for the branch.

For Dilamar Dall′Agnol, director of Notabile, reseller of Dell Anno furniture in Recife, the companies that install the modules are ahead of the carpenters, who in the past were hired directly. "It also has the advantage of dividing it on credit cards and financing is increasingly common."

The stores have more physical structure to receive visitors and space to exhibit the news. "The customer sees everything assembled in the store and is attracted." Having a professional accompanying the project is important to harmonize the furniture with the other elements of the environment, such as the floor and lighting, in addition to coordinating them with each other, following a single style.

To those who think that the modules are very expensive, Dall`Agnol says that the costs, in general, are planned before the execution of the project, with the possibility of exchanging materials and accessories to cut expenses. Hinges, for example, come in several models, from the simplest to automated mechanical structures. “There it goes according to the client's desire. If he wants something bolder, he can prioritize that. If not, choose a cheaper one”, explained the businessman.

The wide competition brings new challenges to the sector. “It is no longer possible to say that my product is the best, they are increasingly similar. The difference must be in the quality of the service”, explained Dilamar. From assembly to on-time delivery, through technical assistance in case of defects, the company needs to be present with the customer, doing its best and measuring satisfaction.
