Phony Christian Love

Little children, do not merely profess love in what you write or what you say; but, show love in what you do and in holding to the truth. ~ 1 John 3:18

"Love" accompanied by lies is not love at all...it's manipulation.

The love of Jesus was often offensive to the recipient...but the love of Jesus was always wrapped in truth and action. Love and Truth are inseparable in God's eyes.

John 6:60-63 ~ "When many of his disciples heard [the teaching of Jesus], they said, “This is a hard saying; who can listen to it?” But Jesus, knowing in himself that his disciples were grumbling about this, said to them, “Do you take offense at this? Then what if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before? It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life."

In the name of love, progressive "christianity" offers a message of salvation without the truth of repentance from sin. But is there true love in a gospel that gives someone a false hope of eternal life in heaven?

In the very same encounter of Jesus which gives us the beautiful testimony of God's great love for all of mankind (John 3:16), He also spoke this:

John 3:36 ~ "Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not believe and obey the Son will not see life, but the anger and wrath of God remains on him."

True Love is manifest in the authentic gospel message which, although might offend now because it holds a seeker accountable to turning away from sin and towards obeying God's commands, ultimately leads to Authentic Salvation and a guaranteed reward of eternal life set free from the wrath and anger of God.

Good points! And did you notice the "believe AND OBEY" element to Jn. 3:36? This suggests that OBEDIENCE must accompany our faith. But that leads us to a problem...many of our Christian brethren do not actually obey what Jesus commanded! What shall we do about this?
