How to Walk in the Spirit of Love

Let’s learn how to walk in the spirit of love and not let the bitterness of the material world overwhelm us.

This walk we call "life" is not an easy one.

Step by step, as you pursue your destination, you meet countless challenges along the way. Some challenges are kind teachers, while others leave you desolate, battered, and bruised. What's more dangerous about these obstacles is that you encounter them when you least expect them, nor can you stop the hardship that is about to come.

So, what do we do? How do we persist in this walk? How do we survive the loneliness that comes as the aftermath of these obstacles?

The Word of God says, "Let all that you do be done in love." (1 Corinthians 16:14)

Love teaches you to be patient and kind. And to persist in life's challenges, we must take love as our companion and move forward.

Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, went through unimaginable pain and was flogged and ridiculed. But, instead of growing bitter due to the hardship, he treated people with love.

He prayed to God:

"Father, forgiven them, for they do not know what they are doing." (Luke 23:34)

Jesus Himself, was the greatest example of love, and he teaches us to live a life that is full of it. Walking in the spirit of love means accepting God's love for us. His love for us is unwavering and unconditional. Once we accept God's love, only then can we extend that same affection toward others and ourselves.

So walk, practice compassion, and perform random acts of kindness with your peers. Walk, taking your family and friends with you, sharing the burdens, and delighting in the triumphs. Be grateful for the path you have covered, and look forward to the destination that awaits you.
