About

My name is Susan. I was never a smoker but was diagnosed with lung cancer at 39 years old. After all diagnostic tests were completed and a second opinion at a comprehensive cancer center (Duke), it was determined that I had stage 4 lung cancer with mets in my spine and pelvis. After 10 months of chemotherapy, my lung scans were stable with no disease progression and the bones had healed.
Everything was good until July 2016 when I was having more difficulty walking and balance issues which we thought was related to neuropathy from chemotherapy. In October 2016, after consulting with my oncologist, I was sent to a neurologist. An MRI revealed multiple mets in the brain and I was set-up for whole brain radiation therapy (WBRT) at Duke. As of May 1, 2017, all scans remain stable and I continue to live day to day fighting on and STAYING STRONG with God's help and many prayers.
