Hope during Disruptions, Discomfort and Discouragement
Well, I am back to writing instead of audio and video media for now. Last week the Air Conditioner went out. During the heat wave we have been without AC and using fans makes for too much noise to filter out for audio. It has been too hot to work in the office past noon as the temperature begins to cause the computer to run too hot.
Life has taken a major turn in our house. This is not the first time we have had these problems with AC in summer months. This time round we must deal with 97-degree temperatures inside the house. TV off, sleep disruption and noise from fans has made it seem like we are living inside an off centered dream.
We realize how pampered we are compared to so many others in the world who must deal with such conditions and even worse. We are blessed with so many things that we take for granted. Being grateful for all things has taken on new meaning for us.
Learning to be content in all things is possible through our Lord and His grace. He suffered for us, and we think we are suffering for Him when we have a paper cut or the AC goes out. Yet so many have suffered far worse, and many have been martyred for His name’s sake.
Romans 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
Paul knew real suffering and yet he believed that such suffering was not worthy to be compared with the glory coming. We need to refocus our attention to that which is eternal and not so much on this temporal life in order not to be overwhelmed when we face such issues that disrupt our lives.
No type of discomfort is fun.
Pain and suffering of any kind is not desirable for any sane person. However, we all will face somethings in this life that are not good and wonderful. It can be tempting to lose heart and be discouraged by such things.
We are called to be overcomers and not the overcome.
We all will need some encouragement and help at times. No one should discount or marginalize someone else’s sufferings and discomforts, but instead be encouragement to all. Compassion came forth from Jesus and it touched us all. Let us learn from our Master and do as He would do things.
Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
We can help others see hope when they have been blinded with discouragement. We can help them see past this present time to the glory that is ahead. If we truly have the Holy Spirit, we can walk even as He walked and with the same mission to share the good news and help heal the broken hearted.
Proclaiming deliverance and the Kingdom of God through Christ within the hope of glory is our Lord’s Way to live this life. May we grow in the Grace of Our Lord and in the power of His might.
