The famous football coach Vince Lombardi once said “We didn’t lose the game. We just ran out of time.” And just like in football there are only so many minutes in life before the game of life is over — and when it is over, it’s over. Then the question is...'Did I WIN or LOSE?'

From the time we are born up to our very last second, we have the option to use the time given to us as we will. As today’s scripture reminds us, we need to heed how wisely we redeem and use that time because again, once the clock strikes it’s closing second, it is over - and then we will either win or lose.

But what exactly does THAT mean?

Jesus said, “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain (i.e. 'win' the whole world, and lose his own soul?” That is, our souls are easily lost in this life when we invest out time in the temporal (i.e. the here-and-now) and ignore the eternal.

Redeeming YOUR Time is the most important investment you can make before your clock runs out. As Hebrews 9:27 reminds us:

“It is appointed unto men once to die,
but after this the judgment.”

Friend, everyone’s clock in this life WILL run out. Be sure you redeem your time wisely and understand “...what the Lord wants you to do” and the victory you will win is ETERNAL LIFE.

There’s a funny joke about a fire-and-brimstone pastor in a small country church preachin' up a storm about the evils of sin. He ranted and raved for an hour and ended his sermon by shouting, “Can anyone here say that they LOVE SIN?!?!“

One old guy in the back row raised his hand.

The shocked preacher said, “Sir, do you mean to tell me and before God that you love sin?!?“ to which the old fella replied, “Oh! I’m sorry pastor! I though you said do you love GIN.”

Well as funny as that is, there’s great deal of truth to that. You see, things that are sinful ARE fun and exciting like living the fast life with sex, money, drugs/drinking and enjoying all the earthly pleasures and riches the world has to offer. The fact of the matter is, that’s the way we are wired as humans, and these things DO appeal to us. That is undeniable! The Bible calls these desires THE FLESH, and we have to be honest with ourselves about what we are really seeking in our life and how we choose to handle it. That is, do we just follow our fleshly desires and go with the flow of the world or go a different way?

The Apostle Paul knew this battle of the flesh himself when he wrote “I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to RIGHTEOUSNESS unto HOLINESS.” (Romans 6:19)

The question then that tells exactly where we are in our spiritual journey (or lack thereof) in this life is this:

—Do you ENJOY SINNING or Do you NOT ENJOY IT?—

If the former, all power to you to 'Do As Thou Please.' That is your free will! But if not...

“Yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.” (Romans 6:13) ...because when you go beyond the love of sin (and) “do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; ...your reward shall be great.“ (Luke 6:35)

Partnerships are powerful! We see them all the time in the business world where major companies partner with other companies to accomplish things they could not have done on their own. For example, Boeing makes jets, but they partner with companies that make jet engines so with both working together, planes are able to fly.

Who you choose to partner with will determine how successful you will be. This is especially true in choosing a marriage partner, where the wrong choice can be a tragic disaster while the right person can be the biggest blessing. The same thing can be said for any endeavor we undertake in life.

Imagine you were setting out on an important project and had the chance to partner with any one of the most powerful or richest people in the world! What would that mean to how successful your project would be?

Well if you are a believer, follower, and disciple of Christ, you already have the very best partner you could possibly have!

The Bible says “With God, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE” and that is because God wants you to succeed and prosper in all you set out to do…but here’s the catch...

Friend, God wants to partner with you, but in order to be successful in this partnership, let Him lead! While we are co-laborers with God, your success is GUARANTEED when you fly with God as your SENIOR PARTNER!

The Book of Revelation is not a 2,000 year old book. Rather, for those that compare it to the growing chaos in the world it’s instead a 21st century news ticker that explains exactly what is going on and WHY — but only for those looking at it.

Just as the Bible predicted, in these end times instead of people looking at reality, just as George Orwell said in his infamous book 1984, “They will be too busy looking at their screens” and being programmed to believe every misleading lie that is repeatedy being broadcast. As a result, the masses are being tricking into thinking that what they see is a 'warming' TrutH.

You see, the problem is that most people don’t want TRUTH — they just want constant reassurance that what they Believe IS TRUE. Just as a fireplace burning on a TV screen cannot keep you warm, you likewise can’t get truth from it either.

Friend, the only realiable source of truth and light is found from both the creator of truth and light and that is Jesus Christ and God’s 100% reliable guiding truth, the Bible.

What do you believe is the source of truth?

In 1971 at the San Francisco zoo, Penny Patterson, a young graduate student in psychology at Stanford University agreed to care for a baby gorilla who was sick and abandoned by her mother. What started as a care-giving mission turned into a four decades relationship and science experiment where over her 37-year life, Koko the gorilla learned to communicate with over 1,000 signs. One particular conversation she had with Patterson was revealing about the fallen nature of the world.

Koko and a companion gorilla got into an argument in the house where they lived, and Koko in anger tore a sink off the wall. When Patterson saw this on video she came in and asked Koko who was responsible, and she pointed at the other gorilla and signed “HE DID IT!”

You see, the Bible says that when Adam and Eve sinned “…sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.” (Romans 5:12) and this sin caused all creation to fall, and that is why there is evil, sickness, disease (and mosquitos!) in the world.

Jesus said “Let him without sin, cast the first stone” and that’s the point — NO ONE IS WITHOUT SIN — but many sadly ignore this. 1 John 1:8 says, “If we say we have no sin we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” However the GOOD NEWS (literally GOSPEL) is that although we all still live in a fallen world, Jesus Christ came to free us and forgive us of our sin. This is, plain and simple, the message of the Gospel, and this leaves all of us to answer these two questions...

1) Am I a sinner just like Koko?
2) Will I continue to deceive myself about my need to be free from it and receive the truth of Christ and His redemming power in my life?

Friend, Koko showed us despite her kindness and intelligence that she too was a sinner.

How about you...and what will you do about it?
