My Bible Verse of The Day - 3-28-25

Matthew 6:33 (NKJV) 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

We use this verse frequently because it conveys a critical message that applies to every aspect of our lives; put God first.

Regardless of what part of our lives we look at, we will always benefit and grow as a believer if we take the time and make the effort to put God first.

One of the areas that this is especially important is in our marriages.

God has ordained the institution of marriage. He created it.

And the foundation of this is the joining of a man and a woman together for life.

The concept of two unique individuals being joined together, and sharing the rest of their lives together, is challenging in and of itself.

Habits and routines of two people must somehow be merged without those two people losing their individuality.

This can be a challenge of epic proportions for many couples.

But as Jesus said, with man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible!

The most important thing we can do is to keep our individual walk with God strong and, as a couple, put God at the center of our marriage.

This single, yet critically important thing, will place our marriage union on the best possible foundation.

When we do this, so many other aspects of our marriage will be strong. And as we build our marriage based on this foundation, it will require much less effort than if we were trying to do it by our own strength and understanding.

Why?

Because God will give us understanding that we would not otherwise have. It is the Holy Spirit within us who helps us better understand our spouse and make sound choices even in things that we may not understand in the natural.

Will we still face obstacles in our relationship, or difficult seasons in our lives? Yes. This is just a fact of life itself.

Jesus told us in John 16:33 that while we are in this world we will have tribulations. But He taught that we should be of good cheer because He has overcome the world.

So, we encourage you to put God at the center of your life, and especially in your marriage. And watch Him change your heart, and help you build a strong, lasting marriage relationship!

My Bible Verse of The Day - 3-27-25

James 2:20 (NKJV) 20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?

What are works?

Sometimes It’s as simple as taking steps toward what we are having faith for.

If the step is there, take it. If the door opens, walk through it!

If the step isn’t there to take yet, then wait for it. It will come.

Even waiting when we are supposed to is a step of faith!

Putting our faith into action by obeying God in the steps He gives us is “works”.

If we don’t obey, then what we are believing God for will just sit there, dormant. Nothing will happen. No change will come. It’s a prayer that goes unanswered because we fail to obey and take the proper step.

Faith has no teeth if we cannot back it up with action (works). The necessary steps must be taken before we can get answers!

Take that first step. When we do, He will meet us there. Each step we take with Him gets us closer to receiving our answer.

Sometimes the answer may come quickly. Sometimes it may take a while to get it. But nevertheless, we will have that answer through faith in God with our works of obedience.

Steps equal works; confirming our faith and trust in Him and what He says He will do! Amen.

My Bible verse of The Day - 3-26-25

Jeremiah 1:7-8 (NKJV) 7 But the Lord said to me: “Do not say, ‘I am a youth,’ For you shall go to all to whom I send you, And whatever I command you, you shall speak. 8 Do not be afraid of their faces, For I am with you to deliver you,” says the Lord.

Contrary to what many will lead you to believe, the lives of God’s prophets were not glamorous.

These people, who were mouthpieces for God, lived lives that were difficult. They frequently spent their years fearing for their lives because of the words God gave them to speak.

In these modern times, there are many who claim to be a prophet of God. And there are many others who desire to be a prophet.

This is problematic. Let us examine this a little more closely to see why.

The ability to speak prophetically sounds enticing. Being God’s “mouthpiece” sounds exciting!

And Paul, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, expressed a desire that all would prophesy (1 Corinthians 14:5).

This desire, though, does not mean that everyone should prophesy. It simply means that it would be beneficial if everyone did so.

If we were all honest, most of us would admit that having God speak through us prophetically on a regular basis seems like it would be great.

Who would refuse that, right? Having the sovereign Creator of everything we see speaking through us sounds like a fantastic way to spend a lifetime.

But we must understand that it is not that simple. Being God’s prophetic mouthpiece comes at a great cost.

The things that God speaks are not always pleasant. They are often very difficult words that give correction or warnings with drastic consequences.

And while this may seem like something fun, the long-term price for this can be brutal.

Simply examining the scripture above proves the difficulty of this “office”, as God instructs Jeremiah that he will go where God sends him and speak what God gives him to speak.

He then encourages Jeremiah not to be afraid of their faces when He tells him to speak. That alone proves the difficulty of the position Jeremiah was being put in.

Knowing this, let us not run hastily into begging God to speak prophetically through us.

And let us also be cautious of those who claim to be prophets of God, allowing the Holy Spirit to give us discernment to weigh the words they speak carefully.

We do not choose our calling under God. He chooses us. And He assigns us the task or title that He knows is best for us. After all, He did create us.

My Bible Verse of The Day - 3-25-25

Psalm 20:6 (NKJV) 6 Now I know that the Lord saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven With the saving strength of His right hand.

Now I know. With those three words, David is making a statement of faith.

How many know today how God takes care of His people?

How many of us have seen Him move powerfully in our personal lives?

We have seen some things in our own lives that are so powerful, it brings great awe to us even today as we speak of them.

One night, as we were both in a sound sleep, He touched our lips at the exact same time.

When this happened, we both woke up and said, “did you feel that?” We explained to each other the exact same thing and the way it felt when He touched us.

We were in awe. We didn’t fully understand what it meant at that moment, but we were at peace about it as we drifted off to sleep again.

In the morning, we brought it up again and discussed it further.

The same thing; the same touch and the same sensation we had when it touched our lips.

It would be many years before we began to understand what He had done, and why He did it.

Time after time He has shown us His hand in our walk and in our call. We just stand in awe and give Him praise again and again. He is faithful!

We know beyond any doubt that He saves.

He will answer us from His holy heaven with the saving strength of His right hand. This applies to anyone who will trust Him and call out to Him.

We encourage you today to call out to Him. Draw near to Him.

He will answer you in the night, in the middle of the day, or in the evening! Amen.

My Bible Verse of The Day - 3-24-25

Philippians 2:12 (NKJV) 12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;

Some people may read this verse and misinterpret it as meaning that we should live our lives in fear of God removing His salvation from us if we make one too many mistakes.

But this is not a correct assumption.

Yes, we need to make every effort to live our lives in a righteous manner that brings glory and honor to God. We should resist the devil and the temptations we encounter.

God’s word is very plain and direct about this. Our life is, after all, about bringing glory and honor to God in all we do.

But that does not mean that we live lives of dread, afraid of God smacking us down and turning His back on us.

At its foundation, this verse means that we are the ones responsible for our own walk with God.

We must be the ones who make the choices that please Him and represent Him well. And we must be the ones who put forth the effort to draw ever closer to Him.

No one can do this for us.

A pastor cannot do it for us.

A spouse cannot do it for us.

A priest cannot do it for us.

A bishop cannot do it for us.

Just as we must diligently work at a job, we must also diligently work at our salvation.

No, this does not earn us a place in heaven. Salvation is not by works.

Ephesians 2:8-9 (NKJV) 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

But we must see the importance of what God has given us by His grace, through the sacrifice and the death of Christ, and treat it with the importance that it deserves.

Let us diligently and faithfully work out our salvation with fear and trembling.
