WHY SPIRITUAL ATTACKS HAPPEN (Part 1, Part 2 following)
I came across this video which was posted by one of my Facebook friends. It was a 15-minute video that had “Spiritual Warfare” in the title, which piqued my interest. The owner/creator of the Youtube Channel of this video has 10,000+ subscribers, which is sad, as you will soon understand.
Upon watching the video in its entirety, I submit the following “rebuttals” – to correct ALL ERROR. I will not mention this sister’s name, as our battle is not against flesh and blood (each other), but against “principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

Within the first 51 seconds of the video she says this: “I came up with four reasons why I think they happen . . .” [“they” meaning spiritual attacks]. Sadly, her teaching begins in ERROR.
Let us first define SPIRITUAL ATTACK: Use of supernatural powers by Satan, his evil spirits/demons or working through other human beings for the express purpose of harming a Christian. Scripture tells us that Satan comes “ONLY to steal, kill and destroy.” John 10:10
A believer should never make statements like “I came up with …” OR “the reason I think …” when teaching others. That kind of statement is a HUGE RED FLAG for ERROR. All spiritual attacks begin, are fought, won or lost in the “Battlefield of the mind.” The area Believers must watch the closest is our MIND – what “WE think.” It is extremely important that we believe, think, speak, teach and obey ONLY God’s Word, not what someone presents as his/her thoughts. What we think cannot be trusted.
Scripture tells us that our hearts are deceitful above ALL things and wicked (Jeremiah 17:9). Satan and his minions “plant” thoughts in our mind – so we cannot trust our thoughts/mind alone. We are commanded to cast “down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and [instead] to bring into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:4-6). We can ONLY TRUST God’s Word. PERIOD.
She gives four (4) REASONS why she thinks spiritual attacks occur which I share and refute here:
1. Unrepentant Sin, 2. Worldliness (friendship with the world), 3. Witchcraft, and 4. Testing.
#1 UNREPENTANT SIN:
REBUTTAL: Warriors, if we have unrepentant sin in our life, we have already been engaged in spiritual attack/battle AND LOST! Unrepentant sin is NOT a “reason” for attacks – it is the OUTCOME of spiritual attack(s). It is a shame that this sister presents videos that will lead her 10,000+ subscribers ASTRAY.
If we have WILLFUL, UNREPENTANT and CONTINUAL sin in our lives, our CHOICE TO RETURN TO OUR OLD SIN MASTER (2 Peter 2:20 and Romans 6:6-16) gives the Enemy LEGAL RIGHT to oppress us. Since Satan cannot be everywhere as God is, he uses accomplices -- evil spirits/demons: principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this world, and spiritual wickedness in high places.
2 Peter 2:20 “For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, THEY ARE AGAIN ENTANGLED THEREIN, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.”
Romans 6:16 “Know ye not, that to whom ye YIELD YOURSELVES SERVANTS TO OBEY, HIS SERVANTS YE ARE TO WHOM YE OBEY; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?”
Unrepentant sin is NOT A REASON for spiritual attack. Unrepentant sin is the outcome of Battle(s) lost which GIVES LEGAL RIGHT to Satan, evil spirits and demons to oppress us.
