WE HOLD THESE TRUTHS

This morning, as I reflect on the events that have transpired this week, I’m thinking about my WWII, Navy veteran dad, who on occasion, would fly the USA flag upside down.
I didn’t understand why he was so angered by the actions made from DC at various times, but given the events of this week, I sure do now! He came from a family of 18 children who were raised during the depression. Five of those children joined the military. Four of them fought in WWII to preserve our freedoms. They are all gone now but the “FAITH OF OUR FATHERS” and the ideals they taught their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren steadfastly remain.
Faith of our fathers, living still
In spite of dungeon, fire and sword,
O how our hearts beat high with joy
Whene’er we hear that glorious word!
