The Israeli left wing parties pretend to be Zionists, but they are deceiving the Israeli voter, with a great deal of help from the Israeli news media. Lieberman swore he would never sit with the arabs, but he did in order to betray Israel. Bennett claimed he was to the right of Netanyahu, and then joined the left and the arabs in a ruling coalition. Netanyahu claimed he would recognize Judea and Samaria, and that he would remove hamas, and instead he has left the philidelphia corridor, allowing who knows how many thousands of fighters from all over the muslim world to move into Gaza.
Shas and UTJ claim to believe in G-d but seem to have no idea what the Torah says about hostage negotiations for Jews.
So is it good that the old general is being replaced with a new one? Maybe. Maybe it is completely meaningless, mostly meaningless or completely meaningless as far as we can tell. It could be a big difference, although logic would incline us to think it would not be. A government that lies outrageously, robs us of the tools to interact with it. There is no reason to believe they are not continuing to work against us.
Now what remains, is to wait for the hatred of the people of Israel against the government of Israel to become overwhelming. In G-d I trust.
