Since the destruction of the second Jewish Commonwealth by the Romans, the land referred to as "Palestine" had been ruled by a series of "Foreign Occuoiers." Each successive ruler subdivided his cConquest as he saw fit, though none since the Romans, considered "Palestine" as having a separate administration or geographic enity! The Ottoman Turks, ruled the area from 1516 to 1917reguardingit as part of Southern Syria. The land later referred to as "Palestine" was divided into three separate districts. In 1917 the Balfour Declaration liberated "Palestine" from Turkish rule, and placed the land under the control of Great Britain. May 14, 1948; the Modern State of Israel was established and theBritish withdrew. Almost immediately Israel was attacked by the Arab Nations surrounding Isreal! The Arab States did not recognize the Balfour Declaration!
