Green Lighthouse
Curra Lighthouse, a place of great nautical utility and part of Cartagena's heritage.
Description
Also known as the "green lighthouse", given the color of its dome, this 19th century construction is located on the Curra dam, at the entrance to the Port of Cartagena next to the Christmas dam. The objective of building this lighthouse was to help the boats avoid the so-called port slab or underwater slab, a gigantic stone of 10,000 cubic meters that had to be expertly avoided and that caused many problems for the boats of the time.
The lighthouse is a 12-meter-high white and green cylindrical tower with a range of 5 nautical miles. It has recently been restored and there is a project to join it to Cala Cortina.
