Photo of four Pennsylvania Railroad Engines pulling a 38-car freight train (mostly new 70-ton hopper cars produced at the Samuel Rea Car Shop) out of the Hollidaysburg Yards on April 7, 1965. Shown are engines # 9777, # 9774B, # 9840B and # 9788. The caboose is #477806. The lead locomotive is # 9777, an EF-15A built by EMD in 1951; it is rated at 1,500 horsepower. All four engines are of the same model and vintage, so there's 6,000 head-end horsepower at work here. In years past, two-story HOLLY Tower was located in the grassy area between the sidewalk and the bridge over the Juniata River. So, too, there was an elevated tower to operate the crossing gates at this location.
