Who was Evelyn? A selfless good woman who chose a great man. The couple had enduring love and loved each other until the end. Her life was rocky at first losing her mother of 43 to cancer, when she was just 13. Raised by a father who loved her dearly ,and her two sisters and brother , they helped their little sister grow. She raised a question and searched tirelessly for an answer roving church to church. the man she loved encouraged her to go to his church, so she did. There she found the answers about life and life eternal. A clever preacher took the lead out of a mechanical pencil to show her the lead (spirit) could live beyond the pencil (body). He also showed her a wedding band that had no end, this was a symbol for eternity. She received Christ shortly after. She friended her mother-in-law who was a very spiritual woman, they would have a bond like no other. Her mother-in-law lost two children to separate tragedies within 2 years of each other. Their bond seemed to fill their voids.Once she had 4 children, tragedy struck killing her beloved father in a car accident , this when she was 31. She became uneasy about the #s 13 and 31, and who could blame her. She would have her baby son 2 years after losing her father. He was born ,end of the first quarter 3-31. She had a middle daughter born 9-13. Before tragedy could strike her house, she urgently gathered her children to the downstairs of their home. She led the younger boy to Christ at age 5 moments before the f4 tornado ripped through the upstairs sending debris plummeting down the stairs in a cloud of dust. She shielded her two youngest behind a sofa facing the staircase with her own body.Life became normal again and she lived a happy life. Her children would grow and each would marry in long lasting marriages. She had grandchildren then a great grandchild. Then somehow a dark shadow cast itself on her. A mysterious and twisted unknown disease. Before she could be correctly diagnosed, it was too late. Dementia would start her on a severe downfall until the weekend of her baby boy's 43rd birthday. She would last only 16 days after. She barely clung to life as her family stayed by her side. Nurses marveled she hung out. Her oldest grandson was married during her last days. It wasn't until his bride showed her the wedding pictures on her smart phone, that she made her final decline 10- 15 minutes just after. With eyes unto Heaven she smiled larger than anyone had ever seen. She saw her savior and perhaps the hosts of Heaven, loved ones there gathering round her welcoming her to Glory.Who is Evelyn? She is my Mom. ♥ and miss you all through eternity, your baby boy.
