The Post Falls Police arrested an Illegal Alien, Baraka Asaba, the suspect in the shooting last night in Post Falls.
He was also arrested by Border Patrol for a warrant for "Improper Entry by Alien"
POST FALLS POLICE INVESTIGATE DECEMBER 18TH 2020 SHOOTING
POST FALLS, IDAHO - On December 18, 2020 at approximately 7:34 pm, Post Falls Police Department officers responded to the area of Charleville Rd and Killdeer Ave for a shooting that had just occurred. Upon arrival, officers found a male unconscious in a vehicle bleeding heavily from his leg. Officers immediately started providing emergency aid and applied a tourniquet to stop the male from bleeding out. The male was then transported by Kootenai County Fire and Rescue to Kootenai Health for treatment..
PFPD Officers and Detectives, with the assistance of the Coeur d'Alene Police Department, began a search for the shooter, who was reported to have fled on foot. The suspect, Baraka Asaba, a 24 year male from the country of the Congo, was located in Coeur d'Alene and arrested on one count of aggravated battery. He is being held at the Kootenai County Jail. Two firearms were recovered during the investigation.
This case remains under active investigation and further details will be released when available. At this time, the streets at the scene of the shooting have been reopened.

Bonner County Sheriff Office is seeking information into the murder of a local man.
On Thursday, Dec. 10, BCSO received a report of a possible body alongside a road in the Upper Pack River area. Bonner County detectives responded and recovered the body of an unknown deceased male. Monday, the male was positively identified as Brandon Vern Hurst, 38, of Sandpoint/ Bonners Ferry.
Hurst’s body had been dumped after he had been shot multiple times. Evidentiary items recovered from the scene, as well as from the body, are being processed for prints and DNA.

KOOTENAI COUNTY DIVE RESCUE TEAM RESPONDS TO CAR IN THE WATER
Hayden, Idaho: On December 14th at around 7:45 pm, Central Dispatch received a call of a vehicle in Hayden Lake at the Honeysuckle Boat Launch. The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, Northern lake Fire and Rescue, as well as the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office Dive Rescue Team responded to the scene.
Dive members as well as fire personnel entered into the water and ended up locating a female in the vehicle. The female was removed from the vehicle and medical personnel immediately started life saving measures. The female was identified as April D. Heath, a 39 year old female from Spirit Lake. She was transported to Kootenai Health where she is being treated for life threatening injuries.
The vehicle and the area around the vehicle was searched and no other people were located.
At this time it is unknown why the female drove into the water. Based on evidence in the vehicle it appears alcohol was possibly a factor in the accident. More information will be released when it becomes available.

At 1 pm on Thursday December 10, Ponderay Police Department will be escorting the remains of Ponderay Police Sergeant Mike Victorino through the route listed below. This is a 1st Responder vehicle procession to honor Mike Victorino's 26 year career as a law enforcement officer in our community. We would like to encourage the public to join us by lining the streets along the route to pay final respects. We would invite all of you who attend to take video and share it with the Ponderay Police Department. We would ask everyone to please respect the wishes of the family and the Ponderay Police Department as the procession itself is first responder vehicles only and would encourage as many as possible to line the sides of the roads in Mike's honor. Thank you for your cooperation.
The procession will stage in Sagle off Monarch Rd and begin promptly at 1 pm. It will travel North on Hwy 95 exit in Sandpoint, north on 1st Ave, west on Cedar St. North on 5th Ave onto Hwy 200, east on 4th St in Ponderay, north on Elm Ave, cross Hwy 200 continuing west onto Kootenai Cutoff, cross Hwy 95 and west onto Schweizer Cutoff, south onto N. Boyer Ave and into the BCSO parking lot. Units will break off at this point and Ponderay units will escort 4004 to the Ponderay Police Department.
