Educated, successful, and then the world came crashing down around me as my health was being stripped by an unknown assailant. The medical community, for the most part, failed me. It took 4.5 years for a definitive diagnosis, only for them to tell me there was nothing that could be done... it was permanent, degenerative, and they didn't know how much longer I had to live. I refused to accept my prognosis. This has led to over 10 years of personal research, pouring over medical texts, scouring medical journals, and taking online cellular biology classes. But you know what? It all paid off because though I could not vanquish the disease, I put it in its place. And in more ways than not, I am in the best health of my life.
