I recently purchased a Lenovo 3.15 Ideapad. At first after I installed the JULinux variant of Ubuntu MATE 20.04 LTS, Touchpad wouldn't work with it. It wouldn't work in the Installer either, so I had to hit the TAB key and the arrow keys to get it installed. I read on the linuxquestions.com forum that touchpad will work if the following is added to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX in /etc/default/grub "i8042.nopnp=1 pci=nocrs". Touchpad worked after I added that to the kernel line and then ran "sudo update-grub" and then rebooted. I am not sure how to get the Ideapad touchpad to work on other Linux distributions.
