I have studied a book by Elmer Towns, on the Names of God. It is so interesting. When my wife and I pray, we use HIS different names to know what HE does, and how HE takes care of us.
"The total dependence of sheep upon the shepherd is why they are used as an illustration
for the relationship between the Lord and believers. When Psalm 23:1 says “The LORD is my
shepherd” it is speaking of Jehovah Roi, the faithful God who watches over us and cares for us.
Notice that it is “the LORD” (Jehovah) who is our shepherd, not God. The use of the personal
name Jehovah keys on God's intimacy with His people. Jehovah signifies the covenant-keeping
God, and Roi refers to the way He tenderly cares for us."
Just like God watches over Israel, right now.
