Mourn - Greek - pentheo

To mourn, grieve, sorrow

Comforted - Greek - parakaleo

To call near, exhort

Blessed are we when we take

all our pent-up emotions and griefs

to Jesus

Because then He will draw near to us.

Cast away from you

all the transgressions which you have committed.

and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit.

The LORD speaking through Ezekiel 18:31

Let each of us personify this verse to ourselves

as well as to the lost soul(s) we are praying for.

So for myself and John this would read

"Cast away from yourself Janet,

Cast away from yourself John,

all the xxxtransgressions which you have committed

and get yourself Janet and get yourself John

anew heart and a new spirit."

Hi Everybody

I have ... come

to call ...

sinners to repentance.

"Those who are well do not need a physician,

but those who are sick.

I have not come to call the righteous,

but sinners,

Hi Everybody

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit.

A broken and a contrite heart-

These, O God, You will not despise.

David speaking when Nathan the prophet went to him,

after he had gone in to Bathsheba.

Psalm 51:17

David had committed heinous sin -

not only did he commit adultery

but he sent the husband to the front line to die

- so then David was free to marry the lady.

However God sees and knows everything -

the innermost thoughts and intents of our heart.

And as David was also genuinely repentant -

desiring the presence of God's Holy Spirit more than anything else.

God allowed the child of that illicit union to die,

just penalty for wrong doing,

But God also forgave David

and David lived to become the greatest earthly king

that Israel ever had.
