We are made to obey and serve our true King. Sin is rebellion against the true King, but Romans 1 tells us we must all worship something, so we will be enslaved by created things until we break their grip on us.
When the Berlin wall collapsed, and the Soviet Union crumbled, they simply packed their bags, having bankrupted the nations they plagued, and moved West. Now they are ready to destroy the nations that took them in. By the way, the US is not, and never has been, a "democracy." We are a representative republic. And currently we have been invaded, and are being taken over by, our enemies.
