Several years ago my dad attended Veteran's Day service at the school my kids and now, grandkids attend. ( Unnamed Christian School in Phoenix, AZ)
My dad wore his Gettysburg baseball cap and a 3rd grader approached him and asked if he had fought in that war (Civil War).
My dad did not laugh or ridicule the question but answered respectfully, "No, young man, I missed that one."
(Dad served and flew during during WW2, and served during the Korean conflict and Vietnam.
