I recently found out about the concept of edible landscaping. Edible landscaping involves growing various edible plants including trees, herbs, vines, and shrubs instead of planting ornamental plants. The plants don't necessarily have to be planted in a way that makes them "look nice" like in a park or ornamental garden and they don't have to be planted in rows like in a vegetable garden either. (Of course, you could plant them in this way if you chose to.) Here's an article about the basics of edible landscaping:
I'm also including a list of edible wild plants. Make sure you do extra research before consuming any of these plants.
