This is what AI does better that anyone or anything else! A Turin Shroud image was given to AI to reconstruct and the result is shaking up the internet. Briefly -the Turin Shroud is probably the most studied piece of antiquity in existence. It is supposed to be the burial cloth used on Jesus’ body after it was taken down from the cross. The Shroud was rediscovered centuries later and has been the focus of studies, rumors and interpretations, ever since. Most images of the shroud have been enhanced as the original is faint but it is possible to find some. The other marks in the cloth were probably made by rocks placed around it, to keep the body encased and pooled then absorbed some of the blood into the cloth. Over the centuries, artists and others have painted and drawn their interpretations of what Jesus’ face looked like, based on the impression in the cloth but none has come close to making the face seem real and alive until AI! On this Palm Sunday it may be something to think about!
